Windows Hello broken Windows 10/11

Two scenarios I met this issue:-
1. I updated an existing working Windows 10 image from version 1511 to version 1607.   Windows Hello was functioning prior to upgrade
2. Upgraded a vanilla Surface Pro 4 also from / to same versions. Again windows hello was available prior to upgrade.
After the upgrade Windows hello was just greyed out under Settings> Sign-in options.

To resolve, I found a registry fix, no reboot required and my working windows 10 machine reactivated windows hello. Windows hello functionality was available again on the Surface Pro 4.

Solution:
Open registry, drill to following path –
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System
add DWORD (32 bit) Value
“AllowDomainPINLogon”=dword:00000001

  1. Below “back in the Game”! view…

Furthermore if trying to setup Facial recognition and you receive this error

Sorry, something went wrong
It looks like you've already set up Windows Hello on another account. Remove face recognition from
your other account, and then try again.

Stop the Service “Windows Biometrics Service”

Open “C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase” and nuke all .DAT files. (ensure none are hidden)

Start service “Windows Biometrics Service” and start over with Facial recognition setup.
